From Our Family to Yours

Welcome to Getting There....! Glad you found us here in our little corner of the web.

So this is the obligatory first blog post. I could have just jumped right in, goodness knows my mind is teeming with ideas to share, but I didn't feel right not offering a welcome. This blog is all about establishing "home sweet home," after all.  So...come on in. You don't have to take your shoes off here, but you can if you want.

First things first: Evie and Grace - my two girls. One i've met, and one i've only seen pathetic black and white images of on an ultrasound screen. But I love them both, dearly. I love them so much that I want to do something really bizarre...it's truly an oddity in this day and age, so I hope you're ready for it. Ready? I want to be intentional. Whoa. What just happened?

Yes, I am young. Yes, I am working on a tight budget. Yes, I am stressed out. BUT...my kids don't need to know that. :)  To my darling daughter Evelyn, I'm "mama." That word holds a lot of weight in my book.  I'm the only mama she has, and I am in charge of making memories, establishing traditions, feeding, clothing, and teaching her. I am in charge of keeping her safe, and part of that job is creating a safe-haven for her and for her sister who will be joining us soon...that safe-haven, friends, would be "home."

So we're going to dig in together and try to figure out just what "home" is. Why is it so important? Why are our hearts supposed to be there? What can we do to turn a house into a home? And just where do the daddies fit into to all of this? I think this could be fun. I think this could change the quality of life for our children. I think being intentional is the best thing you can do as a mom. Because we all know we're going to make mistakes, but let's not just let life happen to us. Let's work together to establish the life that we want for our families.

So raise your glasses (that I surely offered to you, because what kind of hostess would I be if I didn't?), and let's toast to the beginning of something wonderful. Cheers!
