Evie and Grace's NEW Room!

Evelyn and Grace went to spend a couple of hours with my parents while Eric and I feverishly hung letters, canopies, wall art, and all other kinds of things to give our daughters' white and boring room a little bit of color. That was the whole purpose behind this room redo, and I think our mission was accomplished. I LOVE that we were able to dream up a darling little room for two princesses without going out and buying a "bedroom in a bag." I wanted to avoid being too "matchy," ya know, because every little girl deserves a one-of-a-kind bedroom, if you ask me. :)

Keep in mind as you scroll through these pictures that I was using big time flash so that you could see the details. But the room was actually bathed in softly glowing light (thanks to our awesome lamps) and it was the perfect little scene watching our Evelyn step into her new room for the first time. But more on that later. For now, the bedroom....
Evelyn's bed is one of the first things you see when you walk into the room.

Turn the corner, and you see this:

There are lots of details everywhere, and the more you look, the more you see!

Here are the initials we made for above the window, up close:
See the blog post here.

Panning slightly to the right, you'll see our mirror project!

And closer...
(Yes, from this angle you can see the sticky on-y stuff. :) That's okay, you can't see it from the front, haha.)
See the mirror post here.

And here's a picture of some pictures!

On the opposite wall you'll see the "flowers" quote...and somewhere in the shift a rogue letter "s" went missing. I'll have to cut out another, because "flower" should definitely be plural!

Here's a closer look at each of the girls' beds:

Oh, and what the hay, an even closer view, hehe:

See the castle art project here.

We moved the dresser to sit beside the crib. This was a fluke, because there were no outlets on the wall it used to sit on, but I LOVE it where it is now.

No, Evelyn didn't manage to pull off one of the flowers, haha. Remember that stubborn knob when I redid the dresser? Yeah, it never would accept the beauty of a flower. It's loss, I say.

And here's the bookcase! (Which Eric fell on and broke in the process of hanging something. Whoopsies! Don't worry, he didn't break himself at all...which is an amazing feat if you know my husband!)
See the bookshelf project here.

Here are a couple of close ups of our little lampys in their new homes. :)

They look mighty cozy! See the lamp project here

Here are some photos of the room shot from different corners:

And check out our cute kids hanging out on the wall.

Are you sick of looking yet? Here are a couple more photos I took to try to show more of the room at once. Notice the pretty pink rocking chair by the bookcase! Love it, and Evelyn does, too. It was a gift from her Great Grandma Robert at Christmas this year.

And now would you like to see some before and afters? Sure!

I could go on and on and on...I just love it. I found myself this evening just sitting in the rocking chair and staring. But the best part was seeing Evie's reaction. She's 18 months old, so you can only expect so much from her, haha. But I think the pictures tell the story best. (And it's a long story. Are you ready??)

Oh, it's another one of those *sigh* moments. Totally. Worth. It. Now, I'll have to keep you all up to date with whether or not Evelyn successfully sleeps through the night in her new room. Pray for me, friends. Pray for me. :)

I had lots of fun putting together this room for my two girls. And I did it all with spare change! So let this be an encouragement to those on a budget. Little kids' rooms are easy. You can literally stick paper up on the walls and call it decor, haha. And just because you rent, doesn't mean you can't make a space your own. If you don't believe me...well...scroll back up and try again. :) Thanks for going through this "Change Jar Transformation" with me, everyone! I'm going to slowly warm Eric up to the idea of letting me tackle the living room next. Wink, wink.

P.S - To Barb, if you're reading this...I know the perfect spot for your special gift to go! Eric and I want to get a frame for it before we put it up!!

Adrien! It's AAAADORABLE!! I never doubted you but you always seize to amaze me. LOVE the canopies, I always always wanted one as a little girl, and well...I secretly still do. The mirror looks GREAT! And the pictures of Evie are priceless :)

PS Don't think I didn't notice the vase on Gracie's dresser. Even the change jar got a new life ;)

AWESOME! The room looks fantastic! Your girls are lucky! =)
My 5 year old daughter wants to tell you that she wants to go to your house and see the room live! And that she likes the bubble gum machine. =)

Thanks, everyone! We've been hanging out in the room all day! :)

And an update: Evelyn slept about, oh, HALF of the night in her room. She woke up once around 1am and she was pretty freaked out to find she had been moved into her room. I laid down with her for a while...and OH MY GOSH...that bed is not comfy, haha. She went back to sleep, but when it was daddy's turn to get up with her he just brought her in our room, haha. I guess I don't blame him. We're going to keep trying. No giving in! It was nice to have our bed to ourselves for a *little* while!

Grace, on the other hand, slept like an angel in her crib all night long. :)
