March Babies!

We had so so so much going on this weekend! I'm absolutely exhausted, but so excited to announce the winner of a brand new Scentsy Tin and Scentsy Bar! Drumroll please....

Christine Pettijohn!
Apparently you're my student :)

Yay Christine! Your odds were 1 in 9, haha. Let me know which scent of free wax you'd like and I'll get it to you as soon as my order comes in. :)

In all the hoopla over my dad's birthday last week, I skipped over my normal end of the month post about the girls. So while I know it's April 4th and none of us are sad to see March in our rearview mirrors, I'm gonna backtrack a little and catch up with my March babies! It was a big month, and definitely worth the attention.

Our stroller is back in commission! Yay!

Oh my booty-ful babies, how you're growing these days.

Age: 21 months (going on 16)

Favorite Words and Phrases:
(see if you can translate some of these, haha)
Baby's Ky-in
Nice to meet you!
Noooo! (ugh)
You okay? or I'm okay!
Stroller, stroller!
Hi mama! Hi baby! Hi daddy!
I want wah-yur [when she really wants lemonade :)]
Pease, pease, pease!

Evelyn has taken the art of climbing to new heights. There is absolutely nothing out of her reach these days, and that is terrifying for her mother! And like any almost-two-year-old, getting into things is by far her favorite activity!

My absolute favorite part of the day with my oldest daughter is first thing in the morning. Grace usually wakes up first, and at some point while I'm nursing her in the living room, I'll hear a quiet "Mama...mama" calling from the bedroom. I smile, lay Grace down, and walk in to find my smiling big girl. "Hi mama!" she says. Oh my goodness. It melts my heart.

Evelyn is the calmest she'll be all day when she first wakes up, and all that she wants to do is sit by her mommy and drink her morning juice. It's the BEST time I have with Evelyn all day long, and I hold onto every second until she bounces up and begins her day of high, non-stop energy!

Evelyn gives the sweetest kisses in the universe, and she is beginning to show the first signs of compassion for others. She is very concerned when someone is crying, and Evelyn will be the first to rush up and give a comforting pat on the back.

Evie repeats basically anything she hears now, and it's crazy the things that come out of her mouth. I can't even think of every single thing she says, but I know one careful what you say around this little girl! Haha. (Pretty sure she let out a "crap!" the other day right after I did. Whoopsies!)

Age: 5 months

Jumping in the jumperoo
Playing on her tummy
Bath time
Reaching for objects
Scooting backwards
Smiling :)

Grace has matured by leaps and bounds this month! For the first time ever we had reports back from her grandparents that she didn't cry one little bit while mommy and daddy were away. Hooray!! (Mommy can have a life again!) She has also begun letting other people hold her more often without having a complete meltdown. That's another big hallelujah from this mama! My little tender-heart is still very sensitive, but we can definitely see that she's trying her very best to grow out of it. :)

Grace has graduated to the big bath tub! Now THAT'S a milestone to get excited about. Bath time is infinitely easier now that Gracie can hop in the tub with her big sister. I love how Grace laughs at Evelyn as she shovels bubbles into a bucket, haha.

One day out of the blue, I noticed Gracie determinedly looking at a cup on the counter while sitting in her Bumbo seat. Then I saw her arms flailing around like crazy, and before I knew it she knocked that cup right onto the floor. Ever since then Grace has been busy trying to get her arms to do what her brain is telling them, haha. She is constantly reaching out for anything around her, and she gets much praise and applause when she catches her prey! She really, truly is growing comment.

Grace is still exclusively breastfed. We'll probably be skipping the rice cereal thing, and maybe in a month or two she'll get her first taste of baby food. If she's anything like her big sister she won't want anything to do with it, but it's always worth a shot!

Gracie completed two milestones in a row this month completely on accident and while throwing a fit. Upset over something (?) while on her tummy, she pushed herself up into a total crawling position, scared herself by what she had done, and rolled right over from her front to her back. The stunned look on her face was priceless! So now we have a scooting, rolling, pushing up baby who could quite literally take off any day. What in the world am I going to do with two mobile babies?? :)

If there is one thing I'm very excited about where we are right now, it's that Evelyn and Grace clearly love each other very much. Grace's hair is often a matted bunch of slobbery strands from all of the kisses her big sissy gives her on the top of her head. Evelyn always wants to hug and hold her baby sister. And no one, and I mean no one, can make Grace laugh like Evelyn can. Little Gracie thinks her sister is a regular old comedian, and she watches her every move like a hawk.

I cannot even imagine what this next month is going to bring. March was pretty darn big for milestones in our house. April, you have a lot to live up to!

So goodbye, March. We're not big fans of your weather, but we sure do like your memories. Now you're only just a dream....

Aww that is such a cute post! I love the matching outfits. Reminds me of oh so many matching outfits that me and my sisters were put in by our mom. It drove us crazy, but those pictures are pretty cute to look at now.

Awww, too cute.
So here's the big question. Is Grace a binky baby? I don't think I have ever seen a picture of her with one in her mouth. Interesting but I have known many Mom's whose first kid is binky binky binky and 2nd kid wants nothing to do with it. Just would be interesting to see you take on it.

Grace is NOT a binky baby...but we'll see if that changes. :) I don't think it will, though. Evelyn wouldn't take a pacifier until she was about 6 months old. She much preferred to soothe on ME, but the older she got the more she stayed with her grandparents, and she needed something to soothe her that wasn't mommy.

Grace self-soothes with her fingers. :) She's a thumb sucker. and while you never see her with a pacifier in pictures, you'll probably see her shoving as many fingers as she can into her mouth, haha. I'm going to guess that Grace will never have a need for a pacifier. Which could be a good thing or bad thing...we'll see...haha.
