Seaweed and Stuff :)

This is what my countertops have looked like for weeks.

I've cut and curled and glued and tied and crafted my little fingers to the bone...and I'm still not done. I almost forgot how all-consuming planning a birthday party can be. :)

It all started with the invitations. Ours didn't turn out exactly the way I had originally intended, but I think they were okay in the end. I showed you the invitations we picked up in this post, and I knew then that I wouldn't be able to leave them alone. I was right. I know me. So I designed a little invite on the computer, cut some cardstock, and tied it all together with some ribbon. The only thing that remained from the original invitation was the front, which I tore off of each of the original invites and attached to the outside of the new ones.

Unfortunately not everyone will receive one of my dissected creations...they don't fit in the envelopes! All of the mailed out invites had to be straight from the package.

Now I know this is going to sound impersonal, and it seems like an afterthought, but it's not. Eric and I want you to know that everyone is welcome to swing by "Evie's Lagoon." In fact, Eric made it a point to ask if I was inviting all of my blog friends. :) Well, of course I am! Please, please feel welcome to join us. I would send each of you a personal invitation to hang on the fridge except that I honestly misjudged the number I would need, and I ran out. Whoops! I was even struggling to get together enough just for family members.

So here's an invitation just for you!

You're Invited!

And now for some more sneak peeks - the last of the updates before the party. Here are just a few of the elements that are coming together for Evie's big day.

The cupcake tower is being turned into a sandcastle. I bake the cupcakes myself, and I ordered some cute ocean creature decopics from Shindigz to stick inside.

They're the very last thing I'm waiting to get in the mail!

I had an idea to create some dangling seaweed in part of the party area...and I just HAD to test it out this week to see if it would look okay. It did. I love it. :) I can't wait to hang our curly ribbon seaweed everywhere.

I was upset when I realized I had exhausted my party budget and couldn't afford to get a cute apothecary drink dispenser for our blue ocean water drinks. But I think we ended up with something much cooler, anyway. :) Not only is it fun, but it fits the theme and offers the sound of running water in the background...how perfect!

I set up a table in our bedroom especially for all of the birthday gear to have a landing pad. Here's a look inside one box of stuff. If you look closely, you can see part of the "Evie's Lagoon" sign. I hadn't intended on sharing that yet. :) I'll just be honest...I love it. Love. It. It's probably my favorite party decoration so far!

And here's one last thing:

One guess where this sign is going to go. :)

To say I'm getting excited is a little bit of an understatement. I'm positively giddy! Of course, when I think of the list of things that STILL have to get done I have a freak out moment. Not only have we begun the final countdown to Evie's party, but our church is hosting a backyard bible club all next week,  Eric's birthday is TOMORROW, we're going out of town for a day or two, and my parent's 25th wedding anniversary is the week AFTER Evelyn's party, and I don't know what to do! (And by that time we'll be in full swing preparing for our church's Vacation Bible School, too. ) One day at a time, sweet Jesus...haha.

Luckily I have several friends who are willing to lend a hand if I need it. Most of what needs to get done can only be accomplished at the last minute. I'm just praying the canopy I have to construct turns out the way I envision it! And I haven't even started on the "Bubble Bay" decorations for the back patio. Am I a little crazy? Perhaps. Now, if you'll excuse me...I need to go tissue paper something. :)

You are so creative! I would totally stop by if I didn't already have plans that day, but I'll definitely be tuning in to your blog after the matter to see how it all turned out! You'll pull it all together and it'll be fantastic! You're making me really really excited to throw a birthday party of my own now... and I have to wait a whole year yet!
