Happy Days

Why hello there friends. :) Sorry to have gone MIA yesterday, but we were barely at home, and that was actually a very good thing. I had a really great birthday and many of you had a hand in making me smile yesterday with your birthday wishes. So thanks, pals!

The girls slept in yesterday morning, which ordinarily would be a great treat for me, but we had a play date to make at the park, and when I looked at the clock I'm pretty sure my eyeballs bugged out of my head. I started rushing around and getting things together so I could squeeze in a shower, and it wasn't until I sat down thirty minutes later and logged onto facebook that I even remembered it was my birthday. I was definitely more excited to meet up with friends at the park than to worry about turning the age that I turned. I'm in a bit of denial over it. :)

So about that play date....

It was wonderful. :) I can't think of a better way we could've spent the morning! The only thing I would have changed was that I wanted nothing more than to snap a million bagillion good photos of everyone's kiddos, but Gracie was not having it. When we set up our 10:00 meeting time I had completely forgotten about the fact that Grace usually takes a 20 minute mid-morning nap right then. And trust me, that 20 minutes is absolutely crucial in determining how the rest of our morning is going to go. Home girl did not get her nap, didn't want to stay in the stroller I brought along, and refused to let me put her down for most of the morning. It's a crying shame, too, because I think the kids had a great time and now I have very little proof that our morning even existed. :) (Grace napped as soon as we got home and was happy as a clam for the rest of the day. Yep.)

I did sneak a few shots in, though...cause that's how I roll. :) It was so great to see everyone's littles and all of their adorable personalities. I've determined that our kids are champions, because they are all masters at one thing or another. Like Jay (whom Evelyn affectionally calls "Baby Jay" even though he's so not a little baby anymore.)

"Champion slide goer-downer"

Hehe. It was so cute watching Jay go down the slide over and over. His face was priceless every single time!

And Luke

"Champion peace keeper and toy sharer"

Luke brought some toys that Evelyn thought were the bees knees, and he was so kind about sharing them. He is seriously a little sweetheart! Sarah - I told Eric about how much Evie loved Luke's Woody doll and now I'm pretty sure he's stopping on his way home form work tonight to pick one up, haha.

Here's Ty!

"Champion dirt repeller"

Ty impressed this mama of a little tomboy! He managed to successfully dig in the dirt without getting dirty.  I still can't figure that one out, but that is awesome. Evelyn ended the day with the blackest fingernails I have ever seen. Lara, I'm super jealous of Ty's skills. :)

And here's Landon

"Champion monkey climber"

I now believe every single word Kim has ever written about Landon, haha. He is ridiculously cute, and he possesses the ability to give all moms everywhere a heart attack. Baha...he does have some amazing climbing skills, I gotta hand it to him. Evie and Landon are two peas in a pod. :)

We can't forget about Logan

"Champion sweetest little thing you've ever seen...er..."

Logan was perfect the entire time. He's such a tiny little piece of joy, and if I hadn't been strapped to Gracie all morning I so would've swooped him up for myself!

And then there's Grace

"Champion crabby britches"

She sure is cute though. :)

And last, Evie

"Champion sneaky runner and hot mess"

Evelyn was all over the place yesterday, and it didn't help that I was lugging around a 25 pound sack of potatoes the whole time, haha. Evie usually keeps me on my toes, and she was in true form! Needless to say, I was exhausted by the end of the morning.

If you hadn't noticed, my girls were extremely outnumbered by boys and that NEVER happens. It's usually girl city everywhere we go, and I think Evelyn had a BLAST with all of her kindred spirits. :) It's now confirmed that for Christmas Evie needs toy cars and dump trucks for presents, haha.

When we set up this play date I wasn't even thinking about the fact that it would fall on my birthday. Tuesday just happened to be the day that everyone had free. So I was extremely surprised when both Kim and Andrea showed up with treats for my birthday. It was super sweet - no pun intended! It made me feel so special, so thanks again, girls! Andrea - Eric ended up polishing off that cookie when he came home last night, haha. Apparently it was worth cheating on his diet for. :)

Evelyn tried sticking her finger into every single cupcake. :) Stinker.

After a great morning of swinging and eating and dirt digging I decided it was officially time to go home when Grace found a cigarette butt and stuck it in her mouth. Blech! Clearly my child needed to be given some sustenance, and I was totally pooped. Girls, we need to do this again soon, and let's make it where even more mamas can join in next time!

I was already having a wonderful day, but it was made even greater by my awesome family. Eric started another class yesterday, so I didn't get to see him until almost 9:00 last night. Luckily my parents swooped in with food and fun for us. I got a call to bring the girls' swimming suits when we came over, and we didn't waste much time heading out again. :)

We spent almost the entire day outside. Swimming, playing, swinging...Grace even took a nap under a shade tree. It was a perfect afternoon. The only thing missing was Eric!

We sat in a nice breeze listening to music and chatting while the kids played. It was very relaxing, and it was exactly what this tired mama needed. I feel recharged today. :)

Evie dancing to some classic rock tunes. :) And just in case you're wondering...those are remnants left over from my sibling's campout the night before...complete with television and surround system...don't ask. Haha.

We had a delicious spaghetti dinner with all the fixings, and it wouldn't be my birthday without a jello cake. It's my favorite, and my mom makes it for me every single year. I'm so spoiled. :)

All day outside, lots of friends, family, food, and fun. I would say my 26th birthday was a success! <--Whoops, did I just say that? I meant my 21st birthday. ;) Thanks again to everyone who made yesterday so very special! And now it's official. No more birthdays - ever. I'm done! :)

Shoot, I didn't even think about that! We were all cleared out by about 11:30, but next time I'll make sure you know what's up. Now that you're going to be a Red Budian and all you can even easily stop by for evening play dates. :)

I texted Kim yesterday and asked how the playdate was and she said great. And then I asked who all went and was surprised when it was 85 boys to like 2 girls. lol. Usually it's the other way around!! But it looks like you guys had a blast. I bet all you Mommies got a NICE afternoon nap in because you had some worn out kiddos!!

Let's plan one for October while I am on maternity leave!

Glad you had an awesome birthday!!
And yes when I saw that TV outside, I thought to myself, what in the world!! lol.

Looks like everyone had a good time at the play date....I thought about making my appearance but I had a headache all day & didn't make it off the couch or out of bed to do much! I will definitely have to make the next one!
