Halloween Sweets and Treats!

First, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my mom! I can't believe it's been a whole year since I last wished my mama a Happy Birthday here. Hope you have a great day, and maybe we'll see you later. ;)

We were boo'd!

I'm so happy everyone seems to be playing along, hehe. This tickles my nerdy holiday fancy like you wouldn't believe. :) Teachers- wouldn't this be a fun idea to do with classrooms in your school?? It might be too late to get every class in this year, but next year...think of the possibilities. :)

So over the past few days we've been whipping up some fun goulish treats for snack time and to share with friends. They have all been super simple, and a big hit to my two girly's tastebuds.

One day while the girls were napping I gathered all of the supplies we would need to put together a few treats:

I found these monster mouths on Oriental Trading's website, and I knew we would have to try them out for ourselves. All you need is: peanut butter, apples, candy corn, and a little bit of imagination!

Wash and slice your apples just like you normally would, then take two apple slices and "glue" them together with peanut butter to make them into the shape of an open mouth. Use candy corn to make monster teeth, and wala!

If you cut the white tips of the candy corn off and use them as teeth...well...they look a little too real for my liking, haha. But Evelyn loved them!

Next up were some ghostly tootsie pops. I'm sure most of you have seen these before, but I wanted to make them so that we would have something fun to put into our Halloween pails when we delivered our "boo's."

You need coffee filters, a pen or marker, tootsie pops, and ribbon to make these spooky treats.

I drew a few faces on some coffee filters and then let Evelyn draw whatever she wanted on hers.

When your faces are drawn, just wrap the filters around the tootsie pop and tie them on with some ribbon.

I think Evie's turned out looking like spiderwebs. Kind of neat!

The next day we decorated some Fall cupcakes just for fun...and let me tell you, this stuff is super cute, but...

It's also a huge mess! I think I'm going to stick with the long shaped sprinkles from now on, because those little beady balls roll e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e. All I could hear the entire time we were making our cupcakes was "ping, ping, ping" as the sprinkles hit the floor.

I'm also pretty certain I almost broke a tooth on one. :)

Evelyn has a habit of licking the icing off and leaving just the cake behind:

Yes, our kitchen has been hopping with festive snacks lately, and they've been almost as much fun to make as they were to eat. :)

I probably will not be posting a blog tomorrow. I have a dentist appointment in the morning, and they've blocked out THREE HOURS of time just for little 'ole yeah...I'll be MIA for half of the day. Since I won't be around tomorrow I wanted to wish all of my fellow bloggers a good time at blogger's night out!! I would much rather be eating some yummy food with you girls then sitting at home with a chipmunk mouth, believe you me!

And to everyone else, have a great rest of the week! I will *hopefully* see you back here on Friday!

I feel your pain. I will be thinking of you tomorrow. My advice...take a handful of Advil before you go and when you get out, it will have taken the edge off the pain a little.

And just stole my heart. I do the exact same thing with my cupcakes and have passed this down to my niece as well.
