Did You Know?

It was the perfect morning to sleep in in our neck of the woods. Dark and dreary...the kind of morning where burying down into the blankets and finding that warm spot can make you drift off to slumberland for another hour or two, easily. Unfortunately, my kids woke up earlier than usual, and I'm exhausted! I stayed up late last night turning this:

Into this:

I needed a little table, and we have something new to replace where those panels were hanging, so I did a little switcheroo. Neither Eric nor I were very fond of those panels on the wall, anyway, so I quite like them as a table. :) And no, I didn't weld and hammer that thing into place, it was one of those dealies where you could make it a wall hanging or a table or even a long standing panel for in front of your fireplace. I just had to track down the hardware.

**This just in** Gracie is being a STINKER today, and if someone would like to loan out a kid for the morning, I have one available. Just putting that out there. She's already pulled the table down on top of her once...curiosity killed the cat. Haha, it's light but sturdy, and you have to try to push that thing over.

I wish I had more interesting things to share today, but we've been bunkered down in the house this week just trying to stay warm. Freeze-your-butt-off-uary has returned. So let's just jump right on in to the blog challenge for the day:

Day D: Did you know?

Here are a few of my favorite "didya know?" little known facts that I've tracked down from various places on the internet. These were things I didn't know, so see if you know them!

*Did you know that August has the highest percentage of births? (Who has an August birthday? Me!)

*Did you know that the names of all of the continents begin and end with the same letter? (How did I never notice??)

*Did you know lightning strikes the earth 6,000 times every minute? - I double checked this one. It's true. At any given time there are about 2,000 storms happening around the world. Nuts!

*Did you know apples are more effective at waking you up in the morning than coffee?

*Did you know ants stretch when they wake up in the morning? (Who discovers this stuff?)

*Did you know hot water freezes faster than cold water?

*Did you know lemons contain more sugar than strawberries?

*Did you know that poor eyesight is associated with higher IQ?

*Did you know if you lick someone's elbow while they're not paying attention, they won't feel it? ('ll have to let me know if you try this one out, haha.)

And I have to share these last two as a reminder to us all to never ever give up on our dreams!

*Did you know that Dr. Suess' s first children's book "And to Think that I Saw It on Mulberry Street" was rejected by 27 publishers? The 28th publisher, Vanguard Press, sold 6 million copies of the book.

*Did you know that Walt Disney was once fired by a newspaper editor for "lack of creativity?"

So there ya go; hope that you learned something today. :) My eyelids are literally slipping closed. I don't know how I'm going to make it through this day! Maybe I need to go eat an apple or something. ;) See you tomorrow for Confession Friday!

When I read the elbow one, I sat here for a while trying to think of whose elbow I could lick to test out that theory.

ha, august because 9 months prior it;s cold and wintery and no one leaves the house. so they just do it. bahahahaha.

and i'm blind as a bat, and smart as hell. ha. jk, but i am super blind.

and did you know walt disney doesn't have a degree either. again folks, why college educations are over rated!!

I'm going to try it out on Eric when he's least suspecting it. :)

Exactly, Cassie. What else is there to do? :D

When I read the IQ one I thought, "It must be true, Eric's eyesight is horrible, and I've never needed glasses." Haha.

haha, it's like how they said on the news last year how there were so many births in fall because of the ice last winter. I mean, right, what else IS there to do?!

I was thinking about the elbow thing, gosh I'll have to wait til summer at the bar when everyone is wearing short sleeves. haha. gross.

I'm covering my elbows! I will freak the freak out if someone licks them! Eww!

Europe? North America? South America? Forget about 3 of the 7?

Adrien said...

Haha, good call! I think the original author just meant "America"...but yes, that would be wrong. But Europe definitely starts and ends with "E." ;)

Me too, Heather. Only I was thinking about how to sneak up behind Gordon without him catching me...
