Kicking butt. Taking names.

Yesterday, I was ABDUCTED by ALIENS. I was just minding my own business...heading down the driveway to check the mail...when...oooooeeeeooooh...a beam of light engulfed me, and up I went!

No. No, not really. My life is simply not that interesting. :)

The truth is I'm working on a really big project, and I think I'm in over my head. I didn't get on the computer ALL DAY yesterday until later in the evening. Not to blog, or Facebook...or even check an email. So I committed the cardinal blogging sin and disappeared from the blogosphere without warning. I hate when I do that. Unfortunately our Delorean is in the shop, and I cannot change the past.

Onto the future! Or, the present. Whatever.

My kids crack me up.

Evie and Grace enjoy undressing and redressing themselves several times a day. Too bad Evie's hilarious mismatched shoe options are being hidden by her nursing cover turned dress. :)

Oh, and every time I make fun of that yellow chair, Eric reminds me that Sarah Roscow likes it. Thank you, Sarah Roscow. Now I'll never get rid of that thing.

Moving on....
It's a day to CELEBRATE!

And another one gone, and another one gone. Another one bites the dust!!
We paid off a student loan.
Only two more to go.
And we're about to blow a big hole in the next one, too.

As per the Dave Ramsey plan, we've listed our debts from smallest to largest and knocked them out one at at time. So....we have our two BIGGEST student loans looming ahead of us. But once they're gone, they're gone. Forever. And I'm one step closer to a new car, buying our first house, and most importantly....Disney World. ;)

The most recent debt we've paid off was one of mine. In my last semester of college I took out a last minute loan to pay for books and supplies that I needed. One of those supplies were tennis shoes (no joke) which are still in my closet to this very day. I honestly did not own a single pair of tennis shoes at the time, and I had four classes that semester that required them: golf, new games, canoeing, and fencing. Yes, I am a trained sword fighter. Don't mess with me.

Anyway, I find it a little funny (and sorta sad) that it has taken me five years to pay off a pair of Nikes. And in the end, I probably ended up paying twice as much for them. But that's the nature of debt, isn't it? Lesson learned.
Eee! I'm so excited and motivated to keep pressing on. We've been working towards this goal since the day we were married. Little did we know that we would have two babies in two years and become a single income household from nearly the beginning. That sort of slows down progress a bit. :) Luckily, we paid off Evelyn and Grace as they came, haha, so they are ours to keep. Interest free.

Moral of the story? Anyone can do it. Even if you have HUGE numbers staring you in the face. Even if you are a one income family. Even if life throws you giant curveballs and you think there is no way to live life without charging your way through it. We are sooo close to the finish line, but we still have a lot of work ahead. I'm so excited to be starting Financial Peace classes again. I think it's just what we need to give us the last little push.

And you better believe that when we're done we're road tripping to Nashville to see Mr. Ramsey himself. Our family will gather in his radio studio and yell "Weeee're debt freeee!!!" for the whole country to hear. It's going to be fantastic. It's not too late to plan to join us. FPU classes start Tuesday, March 6th for those of you who are in our area.

I know some of YOU have had recent success paying off debt too, ahem Heather Rahn, so a big fat congratulations to everyone who is putting on their big kid pants and kicking butt with us. Awesome!

Tomorrow is one of my favorite posting days of the month. I've been waiting for it for quite a while. But holy moly, it's the last day of February! I can almost hear Spring birds singing. :) Happy Leap Day!

Awww...thanks for the shout out!!! My next goal...my car! And I vowed to myself to never, ever have a car payment ever again. I know that it won't happen, but my next car will definitely be something I can pay for with cash.
