April Update!

I know that I just recently did one of these, but in order to not fall behind yet again...it's a monthly update! What have the girls been up to in the two weeks since our last update? Quite a bit.

Especially Evie. Oh my. She is now a pacifier free seƱorita, and I didn't think that day would ever come. She loved that thing like it was her best friend. I just assumed she would be sneaking it off to college or something. :) And even though she no longer takes a nap during the day without her old way of soothing, Evelyn now goes to bed at night about an hour earlier...so I'll take it.

I didn't have any recent pictures of the girls, so I made them smile for the camera this morning...bed heads and all, haha. Don't you love Ev's weed-wacked bangs? She did those herself. :)

Evie still isn't 100% potty trained, but she no longer even requires my help to use the potty. She will open the bathroom door (another new development - Evie can open ANY door now that isn't locked), turn on the light, put her potty seat on the toilet, climb up, and go all by herself. Now if only she would do that EVERY time. She's so close!

Perhaps the funniest new thing that Evelyn does is when she declares what she is doing from across the house - just so I'm in the know. And this usually has to do with her prayer life. It is now a common occurrence for me to hear, "MOM! I prayed to GOD!!" usually coming from the bathroom. I'm not sure why, but girlfriend likes to have her private conversations with the Lord while doing her business. Cracks me up.

Gracie is going to be MUCH harder to separate from her favorite soothing item, I am afraid. I feel like she wants to nurse more than ever before, and I may have mentioned once or twice that I'm about to lose my mind. :) It's part of the reason why I NEED to take a weekend trip away from the kids. From all that I have read, the only way I may be able to get her officially weaned is to physically separate myself from her. Boy do I hope a couple of nights away does the trick!

In the meantime, I'm slowly trying to ease her out of it. The problem for the last two months or so is that if I'm sitting or lying down she thinks she can crawl up and help herself...and since sitting and laying have been my favorite things to do with this exhaustion-ridden pregnancy, well...I feel like I'm peeling her off of me all day long. I began "Operation Wean" last night by trying a new sleep method with my darling daughter (who wakes up a million times a night anymore wanting to nurse) and it WORKED! For the first time in a long time my kid slept through the entire night. Praise the Lord!

In other news, Gracie is a jabbering fool. More than ever, she is talking our ears off, and Eric and I can't get over it. Even though I don't understand a word she is saying half the time, she can use head shakes and hand gestures to get her point across, and it has made life SO much easier with her. I love that she is able to communicate what she wants now. There is a lot less frustration and a lot less tears!

And as soon as we get to a place where life gets a bit easier...this little one will be making his/her debut. :)

Because we have had our due date moved up, I am exactly 16 weeks today. I can no longer affectionally refer to baby Robert as our little "bean" because he (or she) looks nothing like a bean any more! Our baby is now about 4 1/2 inches long, and get this - we have toenails, people. Wowee. :)

At our first appointment this baby's heartbeat was super duper fast, but at our most recent appointment  it has dropped back to the 150/160's range. (Which is still faster than the girls' ever was.) We will officially get to know our little bundle's sex on June 6. As long as we know before the next Gymboree RBS sale, I'll be good. ;) (Seriously, the thought of buying clothes for three children kind of freaks me out... a lot.)

To be totally fair to my children, this is what I look like this morning:

Gracie insisted that I wear the glasses. She thinks it's hilarious. :D

So... it's one more day til Friday. We can do this, friends.

I believe in us.

My first thought while reading this was to pray for the person that gets to babysit Grace when you go out of town.

Haha, that's EXACTLY why I'm trying to wind her down from it instead of going cold turkey. Though, I'M the one that seems to be her problem...as long as she isn't around me she's fine. I just have want she wants! :D
