Baby Robert Has a Name!

By now many of you have already heard the news, but for those who still don't know, we are excited to announce that baby Robert is a...BOY!! :) So for the dozens and dozens of you who were so sure that we were going to be having a little boy this time, you were right!

When we went to our doctor appointment last Wednesday we were able to take a peek inside at our very tightly tucked little baby. The doctor joked that with our baby's flexibility he or she would make an excellent diver, haha. We also learned the reason I have been secretly concerned this entire pregnancy about the health of our baby. I just don't feel our baby very much at all, and when I do it's very sporadic movement. But it turns out my placenta is in the front of my belly this time, so it's much harder for me to feel the kicks. Whew! That explains a lot. There is a perfectly healthy and wiggly baby in there. :)

Anyway, when it was time to check on the baby's gender (or any time the doc came close to that area) Eric and I looked away. She wouldn't even print the picture from the ultrasound until Eric and I left the room, haha. She sealed the picture along with a little note in an envelope we brought, and then we went on our merry way.

That sacred envelope passed through a couple of hands before reaching a family friend of ours. We thought about who we would trust not to tell a soul with our top-secret information, and we knew that our friend Joy would be the perfect person for the job! It would be her job to fill a box that we had decorated with either pink or blue balloons which we would open in front of some of our family members after Evelyn's birthday party this weekend.

Some of us voted on what we thought the baby would be. :)

After cake and presents and pinatas and fun, we gathered around the box for the big reveal.

I was cool and collected inside about the whole thing until seconds before it was time to pull those ribbons. Then suddenly I felt the butterflies and I kind of freaked out, haha.

There was much cheering and applause at the release of blue balloons. Hooray!

Evelyn had been saying for weeks that she was having a little brother. :)

We had to peek inside the envelope for ourselves to make sure that we personally verified it was a boy. And yep! There's no doubt about it!

And for all of you who have been asking, we have had a name chosen for our first son since before we were even married. Now we finally get to use it! I can officially start referring to our baby by name, and that name is:

Reagan Joseph Robert

Sigh. We finally have our little Reagan. :) We were fully prepared to never use the name at all...and while I know people STILL don't believe us, we really would have been just as happy and excited to have another little girl. Now we're just embarking on uncharted territories. :) We're excited to have new adventures ahead!

If you'd like to check out a video of our big day, here ya go! But I will warn you, I didn't edit it...haha. So it's really like you were there. :)

We were just in our favorite children's clothing store yesterday, and I am absolutely drooling over all of the to-die-for little boy clothes. :) I've never really gotten to shop on that side of the store before, and I am so ready for dinosaurs and monkeys and trucks and sweater vests! I don't care how goofy that sounds. I love boy stuff just as much as girl stuff!

So now we have a gender and a name and I feel like I can really start planning for our newest addition. My hat is definitely off to those who can wait the entire nine months to find out what they are having! I am so much of a planner that it would drive me nuts if I knew I could know but didn't know, haha.

Thank you to everyone who has been so happy for us and encouraging over the past couple of days. It has definitely made this pregnancy a little more fun!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!!

Reagan is a super cute name! Actually, when I was pregnant with Keegan that is what everyone called him because we didn't know if he was a boy or a girl so my friends would call him Reagan, a combo of mine & Ryan's names.

I know I already told you this but just want to let you know again that if you ever want to go through my boy clothes, you are more than welcome to!
