Happy Birthday, Evelyn!

I cannot believe that I have a three year old. I simply can't believe it. When I was pregnant with Evelyn my job was to care for a three year old and her little brother, and I remember thinking, "One day, I'm going to have a child that is this big. She's going say all of these cute things and do all of these cute things, and she's going to be mine." Only then, it seemed like some far off distant future thing that was going to take forever to get to. And now...here we are. I have my very own three year old. Pinch me!

On Saturday we celebrated Evie's birthday with a little "Over the Rainbow" flair. It was a smaller party with family, and I didn't go nearly as big as usual. But it was still tons of fun, and we did a few things to make it special. :)

We decided that it wouldn't be an over the rainbow birthday without at least one decent shot at a rainbow of our own.

There was rainbow punch...mmm...equal parts fruit punch, pineapple juice, and ginger ale. Top with rainbow sherbet and let your taste buds tingle.

Little rainbows hidden everywhere...even in the cups!

The kids loved their "special" cups, and there was no confusing whose was whose. They worked great for the party and then served as fun favors for them to take home. I can still name which kid picked which color, because I correctly predicted each one, haha.

Evelyn was most concerned about WHO was going to be at her birthday party. For weeks and weeks all she talked about were all of her favorite people that she wanted to see there. And so every time someone new walked through the door, I kid you not, she looked just like this:

My child was bouncing off of the walls. I think this was by far her most favorite birthday. :)

Soon it was time for cake!

My favorite moment from each of Evelyn's birthdays is always singing the Happy Birthday song to her. She eats it up and loves the attention. This year she sung proudly to herself with the rest of us. :)

My mom and I worked on Evelyn's cake together, and it turned out great!

Then we decided we hadn't pumped the kids with enough sugar just yet and led them outside to the pull-string piƱata. Hey, when you're over the rainbow, there are no rules. :)

Candy bags!

Trying on their new shades. :)

The party wasn't over yet! I'll spare you the fifty million photos we have and just share a few....

Gracie tried sneaking off with her sister's presents, hehe.

It was a really great day! And my house still looks like rainbow city. The cable man thought that was pretty hilarious when he walked in the door yesterday. :)

Fast forward a few days and here we are. It's Evelyn's actual birthday and I think the earth just tilted on it's axis a bit more and mountains moved, because Eric Robert surprised us all by taking the day off of work! Haha. Eric arranged a little fun today, and we're going to take the girls somewhere they've never been. Just where could it be....? :)

Happy Birthday to my BIG girl! Mommy loves you!!
