Quick Weekend Wrap Up!

I have a lot to do today, including going to the dentist. Yay me! Let's do this one in bullet points, shall we? What did we do this weekend?

*We ate a lot of food we probably shouldn't have. What else is new? :)

*We shopped a lot. Another regular weekend occurrence.

*We celebrated my cousin Ashley's Sweet 16. Happy Birthday to Ashley!! And to her mom Pam - they share a birthday. :)

Wasn't her cake ca-ute??
P.S. Yes, it does make you feel extremely old when someone you clearly remember being born turns 16. That just doesn't seem possible. My children will never be 16.

*We learned that it is still possible for love drama to go down in nursing homes. Especially when little old ladies don't comprehend that some of the little old men still have wives at home. My poor aunt Brenda. :) I bet she never thought she'd be chasing women away from my uncle Charlie at this stage in life!

*We took some great family walks. Favorite part of my day!

*We got a membership to this place:

We were waffling between Sam's Club and Costco. And I realize many people end up choosing Costco for various reasons. So why didn't we? Because we tried to visit both, and we couldn't. Costco closes at 6:00 PM on Saturday. Um, that's a problem. Sam's is open until 8:30. Ye who is open gets our business. (Especially on the busiest shopping day of the week. Um, hello Costco. What are you thinking?)

*The girls got to hang out with their grandparent's quite a bit. Eric and I were just discussing (once again) how lucky we are to have our parents so close to us! We can go out guilt-free knowing that our kids are spending time with their grandparents while we're away. It's a win-win!

*We attended a wonderful Sunday morning church service.

*Shopped some more.

*And we ended the weekend with a church softball game! We don't play softball, so we just let the kids run around. The first half was lots of fun...and then Gracie decided to be Gracie and we had to vacate the premises. :) I don't think anyone truly gets our darling daughter and our struggles with her until they see her in action. And then they understand. And pray for us. :D

Seriously, this is such a HARD age with a strong-willed child. Any advice is welcomed! She's still too little to be reasoned with verbally- because she can't talk (which I think is part of the problem). She doesn't comprehend time-out yet...she's not even two. My children are totally unfazed by spanking. Intervening often escalades the tantrums. Ignoring them doesn't help anything, either. The ONLY thing we've been able to do thus far is to remove her from the situation and let her cry it out until she calms down.

All I have to say is that I'm glad Gracie wasn't our first child, because I'm not sure we would've felt we could handle any more! :) And then she does super cute the way she is cuddling with me on the couch right this very minute...and I thank God for our little wild child. Sigh.

And that was our weekend. Short and sweet.
Hope yours was lots of fun!
Now I have to go floss my teeth and hope the dentist thinks I do that every day....

Bahaha...about Gracie, last night we heard s child crying and I looked over and saw it was her. I just started smiling and could only think....this is what Adrien talks about. I mean, I've had her in nursery with the crying.....but she is just SO DARN CUTE! Love that kid!
