I Love Forest Critters :)

So I've noticed a pattern recently when it comes to my ability to keep up with this blog and take care of my family. Thursdays stink. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've missed blogging on Thursdays quite a few times since Reagan has been born. Not sure why that is...perhaps I'm just out of steam by this point in the week. That's my best answer, and probably the right one. :)

Sad thing is today is no different, and I don't know who I'm fooling by getting on here to talk about a whole lot of nothing. I've spent the past 48 hours of my life trying to track down crib bedding. Anyone out there bought crib bedding recently? A lot has changed in the few years since I was in the market. You can hardly find a crib set with the bumpers anymore, and it's maddening...yeah, never mind. Not going to go there. Haha.

Anyway, after a TON of searching, price matching, coupon coding, and even buying separate peices from different stores (yes, I am that psycho about getting a good deal), Reagan ended up with a hand-picked crib set from Carter's "Forest Friend" collection. And...oh my goodness...I DIE.

There are no good pictures anywhere that show the whole bumper, but it's covered in all sorts of forest critters. What is it about forest animals that makes me so nutso? I don't know, but I love this bedding. :)

I also tracked down this crib sheet and blanket:

And that is all my baby will ever need. I discovered a little secret in the baby bedding saga of 2012...it is much more affordable to pick out baby bedding by the piece than it is to pay for items in a set that you'll probably never use anyway. Crib skirts are cute, but the skirt I had with the girls' set always got caught up in the railing and messed up every time I changed the crib sheets. More of a pain in my rear than anything. And those diaper stackers? Baha. I think I put diapers in it before Evie was born and then never again. I'm sure there is someone out there who couldn't live without their darn diaper stacker. That person was not me.

Throw pillows are super cute, I will admit, but an infant has no use for a throw pillow. You get my drift. If you want a more expensive set because it's just to die for (like I did) skip the frills and just get whatcha need. Then you can still afford it on a budget! That's my baby lesson for the day. :)

And in case you are curious (because I would be) I paid about $75 for all three peices that I chose vs. the $140 sale price ($172 retail) of the four piece set they choose for you. Their set includes the crib sheet, a blanket, skirt, and diaper stacker. Only two things you actually need and no bumper! What the heck? You have to buy that separately, and the bumper is the most expensive piece of the whole set. I paid half the price for better stuff. Bam.

That's all I've got for ya. There's a little guy in a pointy red hat waiting for me to make him do something ridiculous.

Oh, and to avoid any debate...yes, I LOVE crib bumpers. No, I am NOT worried about my child suffocating. Yes, I do think people are a bit paranoid these days. If you disagree then I'll just go ahead and concede that I am an absolutely terrible parent. :) And that is that. Sianara!

Haha, I have found her - the diaper stacker mom! I'm probably the only person who never used it. :D

I bought the diaper stacker with both of my kids bedding. Used it before they got here when putting the room together, and never used it since.
Waste of money!

I am team bumper. My kids are both alive. and in my opinion, the bumper totally makes the whole set!
Love it!
