Do you know what's in the bible....

...is it true? Is it reliable?
Absolutely verifiable?
Let's all take a looook in the bible!

That's the song that the girls were listening to through their daddy's new headphones last night. :)

Eric bought these to wear at the gym.
Baha. Kidding. They are for his radio station job. They're HUGE, but pretty awesome, as far as headphones go.

Who knew headphones could be so entertaining?!
Well, I guess anyone who has ever used headphones...never mind. :)

But speaking of the song that they were listening to, I'd love to share with you one of our family's favorite video series today. "What's in the Bible" is a new scripture-based dvd series made by the creator of Veggies Tales, Phil Vischer. And we LOVE it! Unlike his first work, this series isn't focused on telling stories from the bible in the way that Veggie Tales did.

When Phil Vischer looked back on the work he did with the Veggie Tales series, he realized that it left something to be desired. While his movies definitely taught moralism and took popular bible stories from the flannel graph to the mainstream, he realized that his cute little characters left out the most important thing of all: the gospel. And if you don't know what that means, why - it's what the WHOLE bible is about. It's the reason for the bible, it's purpose, it's meaning. Without it, the bible has no point...it's just another old book of history.

"What's in the Bible" includes not only summaries of stories that are found in the bible, but it also explains WHY the stories were put in. Smattered in with scripture stories are also history lessons on how the bible was compiled, who wrote the book, and what context the book was written in. It takes each and every book of the bible and breaks it down into it's main themes. Basically, it's bible college for kids. :)

Eric and I love the series, because WE are learning along with our children. If you are looking for a way to introduce your kids to the bible, or to reinforce lessons at home, this is what I would personally recommend.

Here's a preview of the series. You should watch it! :)

Evelyn and Grace love watching "the bible!" movies. (In fact, Evie just put one in and we're watching it right now, haha.) I'm sure the kids in your life would like them, too!

Use this link to get 20% off of the videos through the website, or you can always rely on good ole amazon. :)

I feel weird saying this - but no, this is not a sponsored blog post, haha. I wish I were that cool!

So far I have had two guesses on John's birthday party theme: Disney and Tootsie Pops. Ha! Disney is actually a really good guess, but nope - not it! My thought was to start with more vague hints and then give more obvious ones, so that's what I'm going to do. If no one guesses after today's well...I'm just a really bad hint giver-er. :) Today's hint is a picture:

1. The subject is one of mine and Grace's favorite things.
2. It involves a mysterious disappearance.
3. There will be animals, but you won't see most of them in any zoos!

4. One of the decorations I've made. :)

Get it yet? :)

A very special friend is coming to visit us in just a few minutes, so I have to skiddadle. Have a great day!
