Baking Up Some Love

I don't usually start any stories with, "So while I was breastfeeding the other night..." because I'm pretty sure it would make some people squirm just a little bit. :) But seriously, Reagan is so hilarious and is obsessed with his fingers at the moment, so I'm doing it anyway. For the past few days, Reagan HAS to check to make sure he still has fingers at random times while he's eating. The little guy will just be chugging along and then he stops. Looks down. Wiggles his fingers a bit. "Okay, still there." And goes back to eating. Thirty seconds later he stops. Looks down. Wiggle wiggle. Starts again. Cracks me up. :) Okay, that's all!

We kicked off our Valentine's Day week by decking out the house in our typical holiday fashion and continuing a tradition we've been doing for a few years now - making cut out sugar cookies. Only I cheated big time this year, because despite claims to the contrary, I am not a supermom. Supermoms pull out the family cookbook and make things from scratch. I have three small children and run on about four hours of sleep per night - I bought the store mix, haha. Luckily my kids are still too little to know the difference!

We strung some streamers and plastered some hearts on the walls...

...and whipped up some tissue paper rosettes. I'm trying to hone my skills for future birthday party decorations, haha.

Evelyn and I got out all of the ingredients and materials we would need for our little activity, and then we waited for Grace and Reagan to wake up from their naps so that they could join us. And we waited....

and waited....

Evie turned the cookie cutters into a rocket ship. :)

It was getting close to dinner time and only Reagan had woken up, but we decided to get started anyway. We were running out of time!

Hello there, mister.

We cut out lots of sugary hearts and popped them into the oven! They cooled off just in time for Gracie to wake up and join us; though, I'm not sure how "into" cookie decorating my middle child actually was. There was a lot of this going on:

Pretty sure that cookie never got any decoration. (And no, I didn't let my kid sit and eat the icing, haha.)

They may not look the prettiest, but I always let the kids do whatever they want with their cookies. :)

Reagan sat so patiently the whole time. You'll get to join us next year, buddy!

Overall, it was a successful night of cooking baking and another family tradition complete. While we were decorating cookies I asked the girls what they loved, and of course they named all of their favorite people. :) We are certainly blessed to have lots of people in our lives to love on, and we are thankful for each and every one!

Until next year!

We love YOU! :) I don't think Evelyn has ever even seen you, but she hears your comments all the time and knows you are, haha.
