Making Valentines

I remember the first time someone that I wasn't related to told me "I love you." I was in the third grade. His name was Randy. :) The week before was our class Valentine's Day party, and I had given him a giant heart-shaped lollipop that said, "Be Mine" on it. Oh, I was smitten. So after school one day he stopped me in the hallway and said, "Adrien, I have to tell you something." He inched closer and whispered in my ear, "I love you!"

And then he ran away, and we never breathed a word of our affections again. Hehe. It was the third grade, after all. :)

I've always had a special love for Valentine's Day. In elementary school I had the most fun picking out my valentines and filling out little cards for my school friends - careful to choose just the right one for just the right classmate. And I loved cutting and pasting and transforming a tissue box or a coffee can into a mailbox to be filled with valentines. I still have a can of those little treasures around here somewhere!

Yesterday I let the girls loose with lots of supplies to make valentines of their own, and it seems like they might be following in their mama's footsteps!

Gotta love that look of concentration, haha.

We made a mess that I wasn't sure I'd ever get clean again - a true indicator that a good time was being had. :)

Tomorrow is the "big day" and the girls don't have classmates. So who can we give our valentines to??

Hmm...we'll have to wait and see. ;)

That's it. I'm quitting my job and becoming a full time Robert child.

Haha, sadly Randy moved away after the third grade, and I haven't seen him in a very long time. :D

Heather, that is HILARIOUS! You are welcome in our family any time. I think I'll just have the kids start calling you Aunt Heather. :)
