What A Weekend!

Happy, happy Monday! I'm in the mood to blog today. This doesn't happen all of the time, I will admit. Sometimes I get to the end of the day and I realize, Oh yeah...the blog. And then in a state of exhaustion I type out our family's latest happenings. And then there are days like today when I realize Oh yeah! The blog! Which typically leads to really long-winded posts, like the one you're about to read. :)

Perhaps I'm so excited about today because there is some really great news to share. The girls and I started off our weekend on Friday dancing around the living room when we found out. If you haven't already heard via facebook or in some other way, our niece Tessa's pathology reports came in and she is now CANCER FREE!!! Praise the Lord! Thank you to all who have lifted her up in prayer over the past couple of months. She can now stop chemotherapy and radiation treatments, which is awesome. Tessa still has to undergo surgery to remove her chemo port and stints in her kidneys, but soon she will get to be a happy healthy baby girl! We are so glad that she gets join our family for all of life's celebrations again - we've missed her!

On Saturday, as we were preparing for a night to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday (Happy Birthday, Greg!) I realized that I have never, not once, taken a picture of my baby boy in the bath tub. That's just wrong. Every child has bath tub pictures, right? Haha. So during bath time I ran to get the camera and snapped a few pictures of my junior stud muffin.

My little chubster!

I kept trying to get him to smile or laugh or something, but he just kept staring at me with this "really, mom?" expression that was cracking me up.

The girls got to spend quality time with their grandma checking out some birds at a special bird show/exhibit/i'm not quite sure what to call it. I'd show you pictures, but I wasn't there. :) They had lots of fun, though! And after a long day of bird watching we met back up with our kiddos at their great-grandparents house for a yummy dinner in honor of grandpa Greg. Mmm...lasagna and breadsticks and salad...my kind of meal!

As usual, the girls had a blast running around with their cousin Austin, and we were thrilled that Tessa was there, too! Reagan and Tessa are only two months apart, so I'm sure they'll be buddies someday soon. :) I loved seeing Greg with all of his mobile grand babies around him as everyone sang happy birthday. I just had to get a picture, and of course he needed help blowing out the candles!

It was a good night, with many reasons to celebrate. :)

We had a fairly typical Sunday. Here are some random pictures of the fam before church...

My boys.

Haha.

We hear there was some kind of big game going on yesterday. The Super Saucer...Super Cup...whatever that thing is called. ;) But we already had big plans of our own...to go mattress shopping - woot! Haha. Our kids needed new beds!

So that's what Eric and I spent our Sunday afternoon doing. Running around tracking down the best deal on our mattresses, and we found them! And this is what happens when you pile pillows and mattresses on your living room floor:

This totally happened and I just stood there taking pictures. :)

Ah, too much fun.

I did turn on the game for a few minutes just in time to see a stadium that lost power, which was hi-LAR-ious. I told Eric what happened and it was enough to make him leave the kids' room where he was putting together beds to check it out. If someone had scored a touchdown and I told him to come see he wouldn't have budged, but he came running for a power outage. We got a good chuckle out of it. Thank you Super Beverage, we appreciated the entertainment. :)

I hope that you all had a fabulous weekend yourselves! I know that so much was going on, and I really enjoy seeing everyone's pictures and reading about your fun times, in blogs and on facebook, too! Family and friends mean the world to us, so keep on sharing! Even everyday things...like bath tub babies and mattress jumping. Haha. Happy Monday!

So where did you end up buying the mattresses from? We've started our search too for Adeline but haven't bought anything yet. I keep waiting for that 'better' price ;)

We researched A LOT and ended up getting ours at Sam's Club for $99 each. Comparable mattresses elsewhere started at about $130. :) We found a couple of slightly cheaper options, but they got terrible reviews or were AWFUL in person.
