Excuse me, I've lost my mind, have you seen it?

Well, welcome to a very weird and random Saturday post! Yesterday was...interesting. I had a monthly wrap up typed and ready to put here, and then well...my day did not exactly go according to plan. I can't seem to win with this blogging thing!

On Thursday afternoon as I was doing some housework I bent down to pick something off of the floor, and when I stood up I hit the top of my head on the underneath overhang of our countertops. (Leave it to me!) It hurt, but I went along with the rest of my day relatively unscathed. I would have forgotten all about it if it hadn't been for Friday morning, when I woke up with a pounding headache.

Typically, first thing in the morning, I grab Reagan and sit down with the computer to read while I'm feeding him. But yesterday I noticed something wasn't right as I tried to read the computer screen. I could see and recognize the letters but I wasn't making any sense of the words. I closed my eyes hard, opened them, and tried again. But no matter how hard I concentrated or how slowly I tried, I couldn't read. It was like I was looking at a foreign language.

That freaked me OUT.

So I tried to message Eric to let him know what was going on, because quite frankly, I was scared for what was going on in my brain. My head hurt, I couldn't read...that's not normal. Only I learned very quickly that I couldn't type either. I was sending Eric messages that he could barely understand, which freaked HIM out.

Looking back on the conversation now, I find it kind of hilarious. And I've been trying to explain this to people for the past 24 hours, so I decided I'd just show ya'll how it went down yesterday, haha.

As you can see, by the end, even I realized how ridiculous the whole thing was! Poor Eric, he was so worried about me. Eventually, after my mother in law and my mama came to the rescue and let me rest,  I was able to get the chiropractor for some x-rays and and adjustment. And in the chiropractor's words, "Uh...I think you hit your head harder than you thought!" Haha, yes, I think so. I definitely had a mild concussion, and I don't think I want to be having one of those again any time soon.

So if I seem a little loopy over the next few days, now you know. ;) As if I don't have enough going on, I decided just to knock my brains around a little bit...for fun. Gotta keep it interesting!

Haha, anyway, hope you guys enjoy the rest of your weekend. Despite my weird morning yesterday, we've already been having a great one. Can't wait to share all of our pictures and memories with you!

As For Me and My House...

First: I don't know what the heck is up with my blurry header. Sorry about that. I just do not have good luck with pictures these days, haha. Facebook makes my pictures look funny, too. I'm clearly impaired in the technology department, so if anyone has a clue how to make my pictures look less fuzzy and more like they actually are, let me know!

I was not on the computer much yesterday morning, because the clouds parted and we saw ray of sunshine. That was our opportunity to book it out the door and take some pictures I've been meaning to capture for a while now, just in time for the start of summer.

We consider ourselves a pretty patriotic family. I am PROUD to be an American. We may not have as long and rich of a history as other nations, but by golly...what we've been blessed to accomplish in a short amount of time is pretty amazing. I consider it a privilege to have been born in this country, and I thank God often for the life we have here.

I love that we have the freedom to agree or disagree with each other, and I pray that those freedoms last for many generations to come. Many things divide us, but our freedom often unites us. So long as we can hold onto those freedoms we'll be doing alright. :)

I am so thankful for the opportunity to seek truth and knowledge in a world where many people are not given that privilege. Our family finds truth in the unchanging Word of God. While we are proud to be Americans, we don't find our moral code in the Constitution or any other manmade documents. The God-breathed scriptures will always direct our paths. It is our prayer that the truth directs the paths of our leaders as well - not political parties...not selfish agendas...not temporary "feel good" philosophies...but the solid, timeless, foundational truth. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

There are many opportunities for "community" coming up, and I can't wait! Picnics, parades, celebrating our nation's birthday... I love coming together with friends and neighbors to celebrate life. Summertime is a great time of the year for that! It's hard to focus on our differences when we're busy celebrating together. If we could share love and community face-to-face every day, we would have a lot less problems and a lot more genuine understanding of one another. Love your neighbors. That, I do believe, is the key to it all.

I swell with pride when I see a flag waving or hear the National Anthem playing. I feel honored to share a history with men like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and the millions of others who have carved a path before us. I just love my God and my country! Love you, too! Haha. ;)

Romans 13:8-10

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Catching Up

I promise I haven't abandoned blogging, yesterday was the most boring day ever and there isn't much new stuff to talk about today, haha. I was so tired, and I still am! We needed a day to catch up on housework and rest, and that's what we did.

So what did we do all last week while I was away? Well, during the day we did A LOT of splashing around in pools, swinging, bbq'ing...all of the normal summer stuff! The kids enjoyed themselves by day, and I was up working on birthday projects by night. I didn't even take a ton of pictures, because I was as "unplugged" as possible during that time. It was a NICE break.

Evelyn has been obsessed with her shadow lately and will stop in her tracks when she sees it. :) Speaking of my oldest daughter...Evie has been asking us daily when we're moving to the "new house." If you're surprised to be hearing about a new house, so am I, haha. There isn't one. But she's ready for a change. I think we all are. We aren't actively looking, but should something come up, for the first time ever...I don't think we'd hesitate to pack up and move.

When we're out walking Evelyn scouts out potential new homes. "I want to live in that house!" she says. It's funny. Remind me to take a picture of our basement sometime so I can show you exactly why the prospect of moving has scared us for a very long time! ;)

I caught a gnome making sno-cones in our bath tub last week....

We've rediscovered baths lately. The girls usually just take showers, but Crayola bath crayons have changed all of that. They LOVE practicing their letters on the bathtub walls, and I love that they love it. For the first time Evelyn seems really interested in learning the sounds letters make and how to recognize them. Anyway, I'm really impressed with those bath crayons, and I think all kids should have some of them. :) They show up well and wipe away easily. Couldn't ask for anything better!

And that is all that's been happening around here! Tonight is Eric's school night, so after lunch today we'll be going to my parent's house for more swimming and playing. Just another summer day!

Later gators!

Evelyn's Butterfly Garden Birthday Party!

We're back!

So, how can I describe the way I am feeling today? Happy? Content? Blessed? Exhausted? I'm going with all of the above. And usually when I'm feeling all of these things it means one thing: we had a birthday party around here! :)

I've shared most of our pictures online already, but if you don't have facebook then here are a few of them!

The theme was "butterfly garden" as per Evelyn's request. It was super simple! Flowers and butterflies - easy peasy. I actually wanted to do even more and incorporate more buggy things into the theme for the fellas who would be there, but honestly, I ran out of time. Seems that time is a finite thing and that human beings actually DO need sleep to survive! I've been trying to prove that one wrong for years, but it hasn't worked yet. :)

I was trying to run around and take pictures before quite everything was set out yet, so if you look really closely (please don't, haha) you'll notice there is some food missing, the cupcake stand is empty, and we were still setting up tables and things. Nothing EVER goes perfectly when we have a birthday party. Ever. You'd think by now I wouldn't forget those things, but nope. My mom still has to remind to slow down, "eat something!" and that everything will work out in the end.

But this day wasn't about me. It was for this kid:

Evelyn is such a blessing to us, so we really enjoyed blessing her with a fun day with friends! Thank you to those who were able to come and to those who tried to come - we know things come up, too! :)

Many of our water balloons popped before the party, the gusty breeze made bubble blowing a little difficult, and it was a super warm day - but all of the kiddos were excellent and oh-so-cute. They just melted my heart, and I know that Evie enjoyed seeing everyone!

We had some fun with the photo booth:

And Evelyn got to blow out her candles this time - wahoo!

It was great day, and I was very thankful that the pop up storms they were predicting for the afternoon held off until well after the party was over. (We were on a walk when the clouds came rolling in, and we were nowhere near home! We called in emergency assistance, got a ride home, and ditched our strollers on a friend's porch just as it started to pour. We're ridiculous!)

I am very happy with the way things turned out, and relieved to check one more thing off of the list of to-do's for the next month. Now we are now in full-on VBS mode!

Thank you again for those were able to come to the party. Evelyn was looking forward to seeing you, and I know she'll be talking about it for a long time! And oh my, where do I even begin to thank everyone who helped give this day to Evie? My mom and mother-in-law for all that you do ALL of the time. Amazing! My sister who painted faces and helped me when I needed it. Eric for being super dad. And all of our friends and family who stayed afterwards and made clean up easy. Seriously, it seems to take a small army for me to throw a party anymore. Reagan is an easy baby, but adding that third child made a huge difference in my ability to get stuff done! So for Evelyn - thank you for your help!

Here are a few more pictures from our day. :)

Have a happy week!

Our Weekend

Well, we had a very pleasant weekend. :) I hope you did, too! We got in a lot of walking, a date night, and of course there was Father's Day. I really enjoyed seeing everyone's pictures on facebook for the past few days. All of the cute kid pictures, dad pictures, parties, and fun. There is just so much joy to be had! And if you're one of my pregnant friends, I hope you weren't feeling too terrible (especially you, Heather!) and were able to have some fun, too. There are so many babies being knit together in their mama's bellies right now, and well, that's a reason to celebrate, too!

Father's Day ended up being great for Eric (at least, I hope he thought so!) He was able to spend some time at home relaxing, we visited with both of our families, and he even got a nap in! My mom made a really yummy dinner that we all enjoyed, and we took a nice long walk at the end of the day.

Since I got a picture with the kids on Mother's Day, I told Eric that he should get a picture with the kids for Father's Day. :) Here are a few of our attempts!

Ah, those are my people!

I'm sure most of you won't even notice, but I won't be here for the rest of the week. I am taking a rare but necessary blogcation so that I have time in the evenings to work on other projects. When I come back next week I will have some fun things to share, though! So don't forget about me. ;)

Have a great week!
