Evelyn's First Haircut

...or maybe it was her third...or fourth. Well, it was her first REAL haircut by someone other than herself, anyway. :)

I never envisioned that the first time Evelyn would sit in a chair to get her hair cut that we would be seeing her get a short little bob. When Ev chopped all of her hair off the other day, the first thing that broke my heart was realizing we couldn't do piggy tails or pony tails anymore. She's lucky that she has a mama who is well practiced in chopping her own hair off and growing it out again and again, haha. I know this stuff grows back. Still...Evelyn looks like a big girl now...just a little sooner than her daddy and I were expecting!

Evie made herself comfortable with the iPhone and a Self magazine while she was waiting for her turn. :) I hadn't tried to "fix" her hair at all before we took her in, because I wanted them to be able to keep it as long as humanly possibly.

After a few minutes of waiting, they called her back to the special kids seat.

While we were driving to the salon, Evelyn kept saying she was a little nervous and was going to be shy about it, haha. She asked, "Is it going to sting?" which I thought was funny, considering she had already chopped most of her hair off. But she did a great job once we were there.

It was quickly discovered that one side was a lot more sparse and short than the other, so her hair was going to have to be cut a little shorter than we'd hoped. It went from being a swing bob to just a plain old bob.

The faces she was making when she had her hair dried were cracking us up. :D

Checking out her new do!

Sigh. Little stinker. She's still cute. :)

Eric can't stop talking about how he catches glimpses of her as a much older girl. And he can't get over how much more she looks just like him at the same age. We're going to get out his preschool pictures to compare, because he swears that there is one picture that looks identical to Evie.

We've been experimenting with headbands and clips and things, and we'll still be able to do plenty of pretty things this Fall and Winter. I am SO GLAD she didn't cut her hair any shorter than she did. We were able to salvage a bad situation, even though she probably chopped close to a foot of her hair off. While Evie was getting her hair cut, they told us that many times parents will bring in a kid that has cut their hair all the way to the scalp, and there is nothing they can do about that. Whew! Dodged a bullet there.

As she was running around at my parent's house last night I couldn't help but think Evie looked like she jumped straight out of an illustration from a 1950's Little Golden Book, haha. With those cherubic cheeks and that short hair all she needed was a super short dress and some mary janes, and she would have been set. :)

Honestly, I kind of love it. :) As it grows out we're going to have it cut more as a swing bob, but for the time being it's cute as is. Evie has mentioned missing her old hair, and since we cant hop in a Delorean and change the past, we just keep telling her how pretty she is now and grown up she looks.

At the end of the day, it really is "just hair," and you can change the haircut, but it doesn't change the kid.

Haha.

Have a great day!

I have been waiting for this!!! She looks adorable! I saw a picture on Pinterest yesterday and almost sent it to you, but thought "Too soon". It was a little girl that shaved down the entire middle of her head, from forehead to neck...leaving just the sides. Like a backwards mohawk.

Aww she looks so sweet! My sister's hair was short like that when she was little! She had long curly hair and wouldn't let my mom brush it so she just chopped it all off!

Thank you, everyone! Evelyn says, "Thank you for seeing my hair, I hope you like it!" Haha. :)

I have been waiting to see her new cut! It is cute and she does look grown up with it. If you need any kind of little clips I sell them for a dollar a piece and can make them match anything. Also you can always get the hard interchangeable headbands and bigger bow too. I know how you love to accessorize her!
