Charlotte is Here!

We're halfway through the day and I'm just now getting the gumption to hop on and say....WE HAD A BABY! :D On our due date - can you believe that?? Haha. I sure can't. I can finally say that I've had the experience of going into labor on my own, and it was pretty swell. I mean, the circumstances were kind of insane, and I can't wait to get the chance to sit down and tell you all about it.

For now, here's our baby girl!

Charlotte was born at 7:45am on Sunday, March 1. (We got to the hospital at 6:00am...we left the house a little after 4:00am....yeah.) She was 7 lbs, 7 oz - a lucky baby according to all of the nurses. :)   She is just perfect, healthy and beautiful. A great sleeper and a great eater. She has already slipped right into the crew like she was always here. Truly, the only thing that's different (and frustrating!) is me. I hate having to sit around when I see things that need to be done...to be in the mood to clean and not be able to do and lift and move like normal.

This was supposed to be get ready for Charlotte week. Now it's Charlotte is here and nothing is done week. :) We didn't even have our hospital bags packed yet. The whole thing was just...nuts. As some of our friends have said, if we're going to have a different kind of birth story at least make it a good one.

Charlotte was born with light hair and eyelashes that distinctly had red in them. Now the red is still there but her hair getting a little darker, so I can't tell if she'll end up more auburn or strawberry blonde. Either way, I love it! So far everyone thinks she looks like big sister Evelyn, and I agree that if I had to compare she looks most like her. I do think she has her own distinct look though, as do all of our children. I don't know that any of them really look a lot alike, haha.

Eric and I decided that if we had to rank ease of deliveries, Charlotte comes in at number two...still trailing behind Gracie whose birth was so ridiculously easy I hardly felt any pain. If it weren't for laboring two hours in the car Charlotte may have won out for sheer fastness! She zipped right into the world. My labor started at 2:30am and she was here about five hours later - start to finish.

I'm just so excited to do life with her. I woke up smiling this morning thinking about all of the places we'll go...things we'll do and see...all of the dreaming, you know. Gracie and I were talking about how we can't wait to take her the zoo, haha. She won't care, but we'll get a kick out of it. :)  The kids are just in love! All of them. I was worried about Reagan, but nope. He adores her and wants to hold her just as much as the girls do. So sweet!

So yes. That is all for now. We are home and happy and everyone is healthy so we can't really ask for anything more. I am still waiting for the craziness to really start...I mean, I know it's coming. Four kids. So far it's been great...but it's coming. Still, our first hours of transition have been much easier than they were when we brought Reagan home. I still shiver thinking about how WILD the girls were and how I thought my life had just blown up right in front of me, haha.

Thank you for checking in! I hope to have more Charlotte stuff to share this week... and forevermore, I suppose. :D
