Happy Birthday, Eric!

There was a nice long blog post typed up and ready for today, but I'm under strict orders not to share it until next week. So instead of a nice long blog post about my husband, here's a nice shorter one. :)

I love busting out old pictures for birthdays. :) Here's Eric with a baby Evie!
(It was a cowboy party, we don't dress like this for fun, haha.)

I sincerely hope that he has a wonderful day today, even though I suspect it will be quite busy. Both of us had a crazy last 24 hours, but when he walked in the door in the middle of the night last night and told me all that happened to him...he won. His takes the cake!

It's a very long and funny (but not funny) story that can be summed up with: extremely delayed flights, one very tired man, punctured hands, profuse bleeding, horrified TSA agents, more bleeding, passing out on an airplane, and waking up hunched over to an awful smell which turned out to be a strange lady's bare feet on his lap and in his face. He was already nauseous, and that just about did him in. Like, episode straight out of a sitcom.

I was instructed before going to bed to make sure that I had tracked down some gauze, bandaids, and triple antibiotic ointment because he was sure that he would need to redress his wounds (which he still isn't even sure how he got) and because he sincerely thought he was going to lose the tip of his finger. I'm just glad he made it home in one piece! Uh...happy birthday? Haha.

Did I mention yesterday that we are currently OVER this stage of our life? Tired. Very tired.

I hope that tonight we are just able to grab some dinner and take it easy. I'm certain that's all he wants to do! If you are looking for the perfect gift to get Eric this year, I know just the thing: nothing. Absolutely nothing. No asked favors, no fires to put out or problems to solve. I think if you could wrap a nap that would be the best thing ever. :)

Dear Eric, I know you are starting off your 28th year on an absolutely crazy note, but what a year you've had! I am so proud of everything you have accomplished, and I'm thankful you are a man of God who takes His lead. Thank you for your integrity, for your patience, for working hard and loving harder. Your children adore you, and so do I! Happy Birthday!
