Wonderful Weekends

Well THAT was a great weekend!! Just what the doctor ordered for our family (and my sanity!) As you know life has been funky around here lately, but this morning I am smiling ear to ear. Eric doesn't even have to travel this week, so things are really good. :)

Late last week I finally mustered up the courage to get out a toy that had been tempting us in the box sitting in our living room. I was scared to get it out and put it up on my own, but a super sunny day made me take the plunge. I got it out and put this up all by myself. (Can you tell I'm really proud? Haha.)

It. Is. Awesome!

This is the Little Tykes Slam 'N Curve Waterslide, and it's currently $20 cheaper right now at Walmart than when we bought it! I know it's a more expensive sort of impulse purchase, but I can tell you that it's worth every penny! If you are looking for something fun to do with the kiddos this summer, I highly recommend this. We ultimately decided to buy it, because with the amount of kids we have and the fact that I have a tiny one this summer it's pretty much impossible for me to take them to any sort of pool on my own. So we brought some entertainment to us!

I'm happy to report that it is easy peasy to put up! Takes less than five minutes. It actually takes much longer to take down, because you have to make sure every last drop of water is out before you roll it up. It's not hard, just takes a while!

We had so much fun this day...so so much fun. We were also burnt crispy, because we spent all day long outside, haha. Even I took my turn zipping down the slide. Head first is best. ;) Charlotte slept most of the day away, so I was able to play with the bigger ones most of the morning and afternoon. I felt like a kid! The slide can hold up to 300 pounds at once, so most parents can enjoy this, too.

If you ever stop by this summer and we don't answer the door, check around back. We're probably whooping it up on the waterslide. :) As Gracie says, "It brings us many laughs!" Haha.

Friday was Evelyn's birthday, and we did end up going to the Magic House. This was the start of a weekend spent with our whole family. We missed having this time with Eric!

If you are familiar with the Magic House, then you know there is an ever-changing first floor exhibit. The current exhibit is all about China. There are lots of different stations set up to teach different aspects of Chinese culture, from a restaurant, to a park, a panda hospital, a market, and even a craft station.

Charlotte was such a happy, compliant baby all day. She slept through most of it, haha. Which gave us plenty of time to explore.

Once we traveled back from China we had fun visiting our other favorite spots around the House.

Evelyn had a great birthday!

Our Saturday was spent preparing for a birthday bash. The kids got to spend some time with grandparents while I scurried around cleaning and finishing up projects. That evening Eric and I had our usual date night, and on the way home we spotted a beautiful and FULL rainbow. It was a complete arc with every visible color. I couldn't even get the whole thing in one picture!

We were amazed, haha. I wish a picture could do it justice. It didn't last long. A fleeting wonder!

Finally on Sunday was Evelyn's much anticipated Ice Cream birthday party. I plan to share all of the details tomorrow. It turned out super cute, and we even ended up with some reprieves from the rain so the kids could enjoy the water slide. Here are a just a few pictures that I already shared on facebook from our great day!

I can't wait to share more with you!

After the party we were able to take a nice long walk and have a nice long talk. That's probably our favorite thing in the world and definitely was the icing on the cake for us.

Most importantly, this weekend was the recharging that Eric and I needed. I've been stressed lately, but so has he. We BOTH needed to take a step back and regroup. I hope he has a great and not too crazy week at work. And even though my week involves lots of appointments and getting a tooth pulled (awesome) I am just happy to be feeling content. There's a lot to be said for just being "normal" which is something you always take for granted until things change. I love normal. Normal is good. :)

I hope that you had a great weekend, too! Check back tomorrow for birthday fun!

I may have tried talking Tyler into a pool this weekend. The heat. But that thing is pretty awesome! Hmmm I wonder if I could talk him into one of those instead! Ha!

Thanks, girls! Cassie, I am SO ready for the fireman's picnic activities!

Stefanie - That was exactly how I stumbled across the slide. I was in search of a nice pool for this summer. Crazy thing is, this is actually easier than most pools, because it blows itself up and deflates super fast!
